Wristbands or hand stamps: which for your door?
Updated 2 min read Paper Bands by Adalwin
For a door where guests leave and come back, a tamper-evident paper band beats a hand stamp: it stays readable all night, cannot be washed off or redrawn, and can carry your name and a number. A stamp costs less per guest and suits a small venue with no re-entry, or a second check under UV light.

Side by side
| Paper wristband | Hand stamp | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per guest | ₹1.60 to ₹5.83 at our prices, before GST | The ink and the stamp |
| Readable at midnight | Yes, all night | Fades and smudges with sweat and washing |
| Re-entry check | At a glance, under any light | Under UV light, if UV ink was used |
| Copying | A printed name and number are hard to copy | A similar mark can be drawn or a stamp borrowed |
| Tiers and packages | A colour or a printed word per tier | A different stamp per tier |
| Counting | Sequential numbers | No count |
| Speed at the door | A few seconds to fasten | Fastest |
When a stamp is enough
- A small venue with one entry and no re-entry.
- No tiers, no packages, nothing to count.
- A second check alongside a band: a UV stamp for the VIP area, for example.
When to switch to bands
- Re-entry. Guests step out for air, a call or the fireworks and come back.
- Tiers. Entry, open bar, VIP and crew need telling apart.
- Counting. The till or the ticket scans must reconcile with the door.
- Crowds. Above a few hundred guests, a band is quicker to check than a stamp under a torch.
Set up the colours with a colour system for clubs and events.
Questions
Are hand stamps cheaper than wristbands?
Per guest, yes. The cost of a band buys re-entry checks, tiers, counting and a mark that does not wash off.
Can we use a UV stamp and a band together?
Yes. Band every guest, and add a UV stamp for a second area such as VIP.
